Dying on the Vine?
Okay, we all ask, when are we going to quit hearing about membership? I can tell you, the answer is never. Membership is vital to not only the growth of our Lodge, but the sustainability of MooseHeart and MooseHaven. Every year a membership quota is provided to the Lodge that is determined by the Regional Manager. He has developed his own calculation to arrive at the figure he dictates to the Lodges he serves. While we may not understand it, nor agree with it, we do have to live with it. And I can't stress enough, the key word here is live. If we fail to grow our membership, out Lodge will surely die. While the quota is important, I believe that our ability to engage and sustain members is more important and is truly what makes us strong. We each play an active role in this. It is critical that our Lodge becomes a place that people want to bring their family and visit with friends. We need to make it as warm and welcoming a place as can be. If we can succeed in this, then the quota would not need to be worried about, as friends would line up to become members of this great fellowship of family. Let us each look to why we became members, rekindle that spirit, and strive to be a place we want to be.
